Ginny Weasley

Ginny Weasley
Ginny was pretty easy. She much prefers comfort and ease over fashion. She's not too concerned with dressing up and fussing over an outfit. She certainly doesn't accessorize. And yet she's got her own sense of style that works for her. And it was quite easy to capture.

She always seems to be layering. It's usually a cardigan over another shirt, but sometimes it's a jumper. And it's never in a flashy color.
I chose to go with a pullover sweater with a pocket. It's practical and easy. And really fits Ginny's sort of sporty style.

The t-shirt felt right, too. It's simple and easy. It feels easy, it looks easy. And effortless. And I think at her base, Ginny is VERY effortless, so that was important.

I chose a moto jean. Again, I'm going with the sporty nature of Ginny and her outfits. I thought that was a good way to get some detail in there, since she doesn't do accessories. I tried to choose pieces that accessorized the outfit themselves. The details on the pullover do the same. And the buckles on the shoes, as well. I love blowfish, and these ones felt right for Ginny. Oatmeal goes great with red hair, so I love the color. And they just seem practical and perfect for her to run around in, duel, or lounge around in the common room.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out.

It's A Bad Joke

It's A Bad Joke
This one was many weeks in the making, but I finally managed to buckle down and get it finished.

I know the Jokers purple coat is really iconic, but I really wanted to modernize it. So after several long, painstaking searches for the right purple jacket and being unable to find one, I made the decision to axe the purple coat. I found this jacket and I felt that it just spoke of The Joker. It couldn't be more perfect for him. It just feels right.

I kept the purple pants, and I really LOVE this pair. I chose one with a really nice texture. I liked that they appear sort of dusty and lived in.

For a shirt, I went with a white blouse with it's own necktie. I think the necktie is perfect for him, and really feminine on you. The Joker is always wearing many layers, and I thought this shirt made it a lot easier for you. So you don't actually have to be covered in that many layers, but it still feels and looks really multi-dimensional.

I did choose to keep his purple gloves, but I went with a fingerless pair so that they would be more practical.

And for shoes, I chose to update and replace his with a military style combat boot. After all, The Joker loves causing chaos, so I think it only right that you have a shoe that's equipped for that job. One needs to be ready at any moment.

And of course, the makeup has to be black, white, and red. I went with a paint on lipstick, because his smile is clearly painted on, so I liked the idea of a liquid lipstick.

In the end, I think all of the agony was worth it and I managed to pull it off okay. At least I hope I did.

Only By Those Who've Seen Death
For Thestrals, I felt it important not to create too feminine of a silhouette. They're described as being fleshless, with all of the bones in their body clearly visible. So I didn't want to give too much of a real 'shape' with this one.

I chose this top, which kind have drapes and hangs..It's slightly disturbing, but to me it just looked like hanging skin, which I think fits perfectly for the Thestral. They're said to be covered in translucent skin, and this is certainly that. Also, their wings are described as being bat-like, and this top is very much that for me.

For the bottom, I chose these skin tight, shiny, scaly leggings. Thestrals are covered in a translucent black glossy coat, so I wanted to get that in there for your limbs. Just think of it as your second skin..which just happens to come off a Thestral.

I threw in a rather ridiculous shoe(I happen to love these platform shoes..they're an obsession of mine), that looks just like a horse hoof, to me. So there's your Thestral feet.
I kept it really un-accessorised, because I didn't feel it needed it. Except for this armor ring, which I thought was really cool.

Now for the makeup..Thestrals eyes are said to be white, glittering, and lacking pupils. So I threw in a glittery white eyeshadow for you to cover your lids in. And I also included a black option, for those that want to be a bit more daring, or mix the two. ;)
And finally..glow in the dark nail polish. Just because it makes the whole thing a bit creepier.

Hippogriff

Hippogriff
So I almost made this a very practical outfit..and then I stopped myself. Because this is a set based of a mythical creature, nothing less than fantastical would do.

The shirt was the easiest thing to choose out of everything. In fact, it was the very first piece I chose. It looks just like Buckbeak's feathers, so it was just too perfect.

I included two vests, for you to either choose from, or layer. Personally, I'd layer them.

The shoes..are actually symbolizing a Hippogriff's back feet, which are that of a horse. So yes, I gave you a hoof. Enjoy. ;)

And I included half-gloves, for the talons. I almost chose some serious hardware in the form of a talon ring, but I decided I liked gloves instead.

Overall, I had a lot of fun making this.

Life's Full of Questions

Life's Full of Questions
Though, I prefer to think of them as riddles.

In my adventure through DC Comics, I decided to make a set based off The Riddler. He was actually the easiest one for me yet, in the sense that I knew exactly what I wanted out of him. It just took me a bit to find pieces in the right colors. Surprisingly, the demand for bright green blazers seems to be exceedingly low..go figure.

I kept him pretty spot on, with the exception of question marks all over everything. Though, I did happen to throw one in for you.;)
I chose a purple blouse with a necktie, instead of a white blouse with a purple necktie and a vest. I felt that you were already going to be wearing a blazer, and asking you to wear a blouse, a vest, a tie, and a blazer around everywhere in the world was a little much. So I think you can get away with just the blouse with bonus necktie.

Black shiny oxfords, because that's exactly what he wears. Granted, I gave you a more feminine pair.

A gold question mark ring to take the place of his staff. Purple eyeshadow to mimic his eye mask, and yes, a green bowler. It's optional, but he wouldn't be The Riddler without it, so I had to throw one in.

Stronger Than Their Madhouse Walls

Stronger Than Their Madhouse Walls
So for Harley, I wanted to go more for her original costume. And it was NOT easy, let me tell you. I had to build a lot of this out of several different pieces of clothing. But in the end, I think it was worth it, because I'm really thrilled with how it turned out.

The pants are actually two different pairs of leggings which I have cut down the middle and combined into one..that was a bit tricky, and for a while the crotch was NOT doing wonderful things..but I managed to hash it out in the end.
Because Harley is such a sexy character, there was no way I was going to be able to find something that covered her up to the neck(especially not in leather), and still showed off her body the way her costume does. So I decided to go with a corset-esque top. And for this, I chose a peplum, to give the dramatic effect that Harley's body naturally has..which is bangin'.

The top is also two different tops, but I think they melded together perfectly into one. I felt that it needed detail, instead of being all black, as Harley's is not. And when I stumbled upon the striped corset, I took the middle piece of it and made a new top out of it. I think it went well.

A cropped red leather jacket for outwear(never know what temperature your heist is taking place in). I chose a crop so that it didn't mess with the peplums silhouette.

Gloves with a bite, as she's always beating someone up. And to finish it off, dark red lipstick, black and white eyeshadow. And the most fabulous pair of Jester shoes in the world.

The Fire Rises

The Fire Rises
And here is a set based off of the hero of Gotham himself, Batman.
I didn't really originally intend to even do one. But then I thought, what on earth is Gotham without Batman? So of course I had to have a go at him.
And now I'm very glad that I did, because I'm really pleased with how this turned out. Somehow, I even managed to get a perfectly acceptable cape in there. And a good thing too, because he's nothing without that cape.

I think the entire thing needs absolutely no explanation, so I'll just leave you to look at it yourself.

Cat Burglar

Cat Burglar
I am really not a fan of Catwoman myself, but I decided to make a set anyway.

(And if anyone is confused by the quote, no, I don't think she is Storm. It's something Seline Kyle says to Bruce Wayne in TDKR.)

I think all of this is very self explanatory. I had a bit of trouble finding the right pieces, but in the end I'm extremely happy that I was able to do it at all, and I'm actually pleased with the result. I'm happy with the outfit and the overall look, so I think that's really all I can ask for.

I looked and looked for the right pair of boots with a silver heel, but they're just unfortunately not that easy to track down. So I instead went with a pair with a bit of embellishment on the ankle(I think I'm using the word 'little' lightly here.) But hey, you could do some serious damage in those shoes, and that's the whole point. ;)

I also included a pair of rather dramatic cat eye sunglasses. Just in case you life where it's cold enough to actually wear this get-up out in the sun(or are, in fact, robbing someone.) I didn't want to put a mask or ears and make this whole thing unnecessarily cheesy..so sunglasses were the way to go.

And of course, don't forget the red lipstick. ;)

I'm Gotham's Reckoning

I'm Gotham's Reckoning
I decided to try my hand at a set about the ever so fearsome, evil, terrifying..and absolutely genius(not to mention sexy), true star of the Dark Knight Rises, Bane.
I went with a slightly different angle at it, and it was just a little bit tricky, but I think I managed to pull off what I wanted out of it.

His whole look is VERY military, so I chose to really focus on that.
He had to be in cargos. I went with a slightly darker pair than he wears in the film, but I liked them for him, and for this outfit. A vest, because the man wouldn't be caught dead in an actual shirt. And a lighter weight, green military jacket. I wanted this outfit to be multi-seasonal, so a coat really wouldn't cut it.

I chose to add a belt, just in case your vest rides up and you can happen to see it. He wears one through his pants, and his vest is also belted, so I liked this little detail. I even found one that plays on the colors of his actual vest.

For the shoes, I went with militant boots. These ones do happen to have studs on the toes and heels..I liked the added detail for him. After all, this is a comic book character..they're nothing if not flashy. ;)
